The United States has imposed sanctions on three Myanmar nationals for their role in arms brokering for the country’s coup regime, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Thursday.

Recently declassified Israeli Foreign Ministry documents reveal deep Israeli military ties with Burma, now known as Myanmar, and its significant role in the brutal massacre of the Rohingya Muslims.

The United States has sanctioned a group of Myanmar businessmen and their company accused of supplying Russian-made weapons to the military regime that seized control of the country in last year’s coup.

The United States has announced a further round of sanctions on Myanmar’s military government, targeting three individuals and one entity “for their roles related to the procurement of Russian-produced military arms from Belarus for the Burmese regime.”
