Authoritarians stand together? Amid the Russia-Ukraine war, the world’s attention is diverted from Southeast Asia, but the conflict in Europe is not without impact on the region. Robert Bociaga reports.

New Zealand defence officials are attending international meetings with counterparts from militaries allegedly involved in crimes against humanity, leading to claims the Government is legitimising their regimes.  

ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံက စစ်သင်တန်းပေး လေ့ကျင်ခဲ့သော စစ်အရာရှိများစွာအနက်မှ လေတပ် ဒုတိယဗိုလ်မှူးကြီး လွှမ်းမိုးက မြန်မာပြည်သူများအပေါ် ဆိုးဝါးသော လူ့အခွင့်အရေးချိုးဖောက်ကျူးလွန်လျက်ရှိကြောင်း  Human Rights Watch နှင့်  Justice For Myanmar က ယနေ့ ထုတ်ဖော်ကြေညာသည်။

ဂျပန်အစိုးရအနေဖြင့် လေ့ကျင့်ရေးအစီအစဉ်များကို ချက်ချင်းရပ်သင့်ပြီး စစ်ဥပဒေချိုးဖောက်သည့်စစ်ဆင်ရေးများတွင် အခြားအစီအစဉ်များတွင်ပါဝင်ခဲ့သူ ပါဝင်နေခြင်းရှိ၊ မရှိစုံစမ်းစစ်ဆေးသင့်ကြောင်းလည်း အကြံပြုသည်။

ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံမှာ လေ့ကျင့်သင်ကြားခဲ့တဲ့ မြန်မာစစ်တပ်က ဒုတိယဗိုလ်မှူးကြီး လွှမ်းမိုးဟာ မကွေးတိုင်းမှာ ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတဲ့ လူ့အခွင့်အရေးချိုးဖောက်မှုတွေမှာ ပါဝင်နေတယ်လို့ Justice for Myanmar နဲ့ လူ့အခွင့်အရေး စောင့်ကြည့်အဖွဲ့တို့က ဒီကနေ့ပဲ ကြေညာချက် ထုတ်ပြန်လိုက်ပြီး ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံအနေနဲ့ တခြား သင်တန်းတွေမှာပါ ခုလို စစ်ရာဇဝတ်မှု ချိုးဖောက်မှုတွေနဲ့ ပတ်သက်မှု ရှိ၊ မရှိကို စုံစမ်းပေးဖို့လည်း တောင်းဆိုထားပါတယ်။

အရပ်သားများအပေါ် စစ်ကောင်စီက လေကြောင်းတိုက်ခိုက်မှုများ ပြုလုပ်ရာတွင် ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံ၌ စစ်ပညာသင်ယူခဲ့သော ဒုတိယဗိုလ်မှူးကြီးတစ်ဦး ပါဝင်နေကြောင်း လူ့အခွင့်အရေးတက်ကြွလှုပ်ရှားသူများက ယနေ့ (မေ ၂၃) ထုတ်ဖော်ပြောဆိုသည်။

Human Rights Watch and Justice for Myanmar said on Monday urged the Japanese authorities to cut military ties with Myanmar stating that a Myanmar air force lieutenant colonel who received military training in Japan was deployed with forces that had been implicated in serious abuses in Myanmar’s central Magway Region.

Activists and rights groups have called on Japan to stop providing military training to Myanmar’s junta after a former trainee was found to be involved in airstrikes against civilians.

Pristine parts of northern Kachin State are under threat as demand grows for high-tech devices that rely on rare earth. Kachin State’s Chipwi Township in northernmost Myanmar is known for its pristine forests and crystal-clear water.
