Justice For Myanmar (JFM) has praised Switzerland's choice to implement sanctions on the junta-run Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE). JFM is urging Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia to emulate Switzerland's actions and implement sanctions on MOGE too.

Companies linked to the Myanmar military and its militia forces have allegedly built two new cyber scam compounds in the country's Myawaddy region throughout 2024.

The United Nations is facing calls to investigate its special envoy on Myanmar, Julie Bishop, over alleged ties between her consulting firm and Chinese mining and construction companies with interests in the Southeast Asian country.

Ms Bishop was appointed as Special Envoy to Myanmar by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in April 2024, amid the nation’s ongoing and deadly civil war, which began in 2021.

Activist groups are calling for the United Nations to investigate its special envoy to Myanmar over possible conflicts of interest, after a report detailed her consulting company’s alleged ties to Chinese mining and construction companies with interests in the country.
