The leader of Myanmar’s military junta arrived in Moscow on Sunday to attend a security conference, his second known trip abroad since he seized power in a coup on February 1.

On June 18, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly passed a resolution on the “situation in Myanmar” with a vote of 119-1. Although not legally binding on member states, the document carries significant political heft.

India joined China and Russia in abstaining from a vote on a UN General Asssembly resolution seeking to delegitimse the Myanmar military junta and to prevent flow of arms into the country.

On February 1, the Burmese military thwarted the will of the Burmese people and carried out a coup. The coup dashed the Burmese people’s hopes for a brighter, more democratic future for the Southeast Asian nation.

Danish banks and financial companies are estimated to have shares worth more than DKK 450 million in companies connected to Myanmar's military, which in turn is leading the country after a military coup in February this year.
