Seit dem Putsch boykottieren viele Birmesen Firmen des Militärs. Zugleich fordern sie das Ausland auf, keine Geschäfte mehr mit dem Militär und seinen Firmen zu machen. Denn viele vermuten, dass der Putschführer, Min Aung Hlaing, mit dem Staatsstreich auch die Wirtschaftsinteressen seiner Familie wie die des Militärs insgesamt schützen wollte.

Singapore’s foreign minister described Myanmar’s military coup as “alarming developments”, Reuters reported on Tuesday, but said he did not support widespread sanctions as they could hurt ordinary citizens.

On February 1, Vijay Dhayal, an Indian business consultant in Myanmar’s biggest city, Yangon, received a call at 6am (23:30 GMT) from a member of his team telling him that a coup was under way, plunging what had been a routine Monday morning into turmoil

緬甸軍方發動政變，推翻國務資政昂山素姬領導的民選政府，外界不斷質疑中國在其中扮演的角色，民眾無懼軍方打壓，繼續上街，甚至有嫁到當地的港人參與。緬甸公民團體「為緬甸公義」（Justice for Myanmar）則發表報告指，至少有5家中國國有企業為緬甸軍方提供軍火，是緬甸軍方的主要後台。至於緬甸政府的112家重要商業夥伴中，涉及中國和香港資金者有20間。

The military coup in Myanmar is emerging as a risk in POSCO's businesses in the Southeast Asian country, as analysts raise concerns over potential setbacks in the group's gas project there. Civic groups also allege POSCO's local joint venture of being linked to financing by Myanmar's military.

Myanmar citizens have been living under military control for weeks after the country’s military staged a coup. Citing issues of electoral fraud in the November 2020 general elections, the military detained elected officials, including civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi, and implemented a national internet shutdown.
