Business and normal life in Myanmar is in disarray. Deep and widespread opposition to the coup imposed by the military at the beginning of the month has led to a nationwide civil disobedience movement that has disrupted major sections of the government and the economy.

緬甸軍方發動政變，有緬甸公民團體發表報告指出，包括中國北方工業公司（NORINCO）、中國航空工業集團（AVIC）、中國航天科技集團（CASC）、中國航天科工集團（CASIC）以及中航技進出口有限責任公司（CATIC）等五間中國國企為緬甸軍方提供軍火，是緬甸軍方的主要奧援方。（陳駿豪 報道）

Those pulling out all the stops to undo the military coup have set their sites on Singapore – specifically its brands and products – for not taking a stand.

Tourism crops up as one of the industries that line the pockets of Myanmar’s ruling government but nothing on the scale of mines, banks, petroleum, agriculture and the gems trade.

On February 1 2021, the Myanmar military arrested and detained several prominent figures from the National League for Democracy (NLD), the ruling party of Myanmar prior to the recent coup. Among those arrested were Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint.
