A new listing on the Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX) Thursday morning risks further funding public corruption and supporting the military’s “ongoing war crimes,” experts and rights group warn. (Also in Burmese)

The YSX enables investment in military partners EFR through today's float. We call on YSX to do due diligence and reject businesses that partner w/ #Myanmar military. Investors: stay away or risk complicity in grave human rights crimes.

While the lease agreement stipulates rent must be paid directly to a military bank account, Myanmar Now could not find explicit mention of that money in either the defence or general government budgets for the last fiscal year. (Also in Burmese)

UN FFM found that business interests of #Myanmar military finance their crimes, reinforce their power & called for cutting business relationships. But #JBIC, Mizuho Bank, SMBC, Daiwa House and Tokyo Tatemono are still financing the #Myanmar military.

#Myanmar military spokesperson Zaw Min Tun responds to questions on military business: “Every activity being carried out is legitimate.” Nothing is legitimate about a profiteering military cartel. The military must be under civilian control & uphold #IHRL.

The port that is being developed by @AdaniOnline in #Myanmar should be a national project, under civilian control that provides much-needed revenue for Union Budget. A democratic & transparent port development should contribute to needs of ppl. Adani’s project does not!
