China supplied the spy technology and technicians that allowed Myanmar’s junta to intensify its internet surveillance and censorship late last month, JFM said on Thursday, warning that China’s increased support for the junta will cost more lives.

The Myanmar junta has used Chinese equipment, technology and support in its efforts to spy on Myanmar internet users and to censor the internet as it speeds up efforts to build a digital dictatorship, according advocacy group Justice for Myanmar.
