国際人権団体「ヒューマン・ライツ・ウォッチ」やNPO法人「メコン・ウォッチ」など五つの団体は15日、ミャンマーで日本の官民が進めてきた都市開発事業からの撤退を事業者らに求める共同声明を出した。事業がクーデターで権力を握ったミャンマー国軍の資金源になる可能性が高いと批判している。

国際人権団体ヒューマン・ライツ・ウオッチなどの市民団体は15日、東京都内で記者会見し、ミャンマーの国防省所有地で日本の官民が投融資しゼネコンが建設を進めている再開発事業について、国軍に資金が還流している疑いがあるとして事業からの即時撤退を求めた。

The Tatmadaw, the Myanmar military that tried to seize outright power in an illegal coup in February, has to be one of the world’s most incompetent armed forces. Since its first coup in the early 1960s, it has turned one of the richest countries in Asia – with a GDP several times higher than some of its neighbours – into what is fast becoming a failed state.

The decision by a Norwegian telecommunications firm to pull out of Myanmar following the junta’s Feb. 1 coup d’état will deal a blow to the country’s already struggling economy and grant the military significantly more control over the privacy of its citizens, according to experts.

ミャンマー事業の売却を発表したノルウェーの通信大手テレノールについて、人権団体「ジャスティス・フォー・ミャンマー（ＪＦＭ）」が９日、非難声明を発表した。ＪＦＭは、売却先であるレバノンの投資会社が出資するミャンマー企業に国軍との関与がみられると指摘。
