Although he recently sold his shares of the company supplying fuel to the Myanmar military junta, we’re not letting Edwin Soeryadjaya off the hook for his decades of dirty business.

One of his businesses was the Singapore-listed company Interra Resources Ltd, which owns 60% of Goldpetrol Joint Operating Company Inc. Soeryadjaya served as chairman of Interra Resource for nearly two decades until 2023, doing dirty deals with successive military juntas. Goldpetrol has helped supply the current junta with over 2 million barrels of oil—worth more than $150 million—from January 2021 to the end of 2023, fuelling its ongoing war crimes and mass violence. In this period, Interra Resources reported more than $55 million in revenues from Myanmar.

Furthermore, the other 40% of Goldpetrol is owned by a subsidiary of NORINCO, a Chinese state-owned arms conglomerate that supplies weapons to the Myanmar military.

Soeryadjaya is one the richest tycoons in Indonesia, thanks in part to the many dead and maimed at the hands of the Myanmar military.
